Abstract

1,013,052. Bed-coverings; sleeping bags. T. SLATER. July 3, 1963 [April 3, 1962], No. 12657/62. Headings A4G and A4S. A bed-covering, which dispenses with the use of blankets, comprises a mattress overlay 12 secured to the underside of a quilt 11 by stitching 13, 14 and sliding clasp fasteners 15, 16 to form a pocket in which an assembly of upper and lower sheets 20, 21 is detachably secured, the overlay having a transverse flap 18 with extensions 19 secured to the edge 14 to form fitted corners which, in use, locate the bedcovering on a mattress. The sheets are sewn together at 22, 23 forming a bag which is detachably secured and located in the pocket by button and hole fastenings 25, 24 and contact fasteners 28. Side flaps 29 may be stitched to the overlay and a pillow panel may be provided at the open end of the sheet assembly which may be sewn together only at the foot end or consists of a folded double-length sheet. In further modifications draught-excluders 27 are provided, a sliding clasp fastener extends for the full length of each side, or round the foot and ends of the bedcovering for separation of the members for laundering, and the button &c. fastenings are replaced by hook and eye or press stud fastenings or tapes. The overlay may be quilted and have a second transverse flap at the foot end. Specifications 883,921 and 902,468 are referred to.
