Abstract

Duvet cover comprises a length of fabric folded in half to produce three open sides and one closed end. The upper and underneath layers formed are sewn together along the top 10 cm extending from the closed end. The remainders of the left and right sides and the bottom opening are closed by releasable fastening means

Description

EASYFIT DUVET COVER This invention relates to a easy fitting duvet cover.
Duvet covers are getting more popular now, but the problems fitting them has not changed. It is still a struggle getting them on over the duvet. Also it is a very great problem if one is old or disabled.
According to this present invention there would be a much more easier method of fitting a duvet cover which would help tremendously the old or disabled and every one else as well. The duvet cover would be fastened at the bottom and both sides instead of the usual bottom or one side openings. The fastenings will be of velcro strips instead of the popers used at present, and there would be a strip of the same material along the bottom and sides which could be stiffened to hide the velcro fasteners and give the duvet cover a more pleasing appearance.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows in perspective the duvet cover and the number of sides which it will fasten on.
Figure 2 shows the velcro fastenings along one of the three sides.
Figure 3 shows the covering strip(or valance) along one of the three sides.
EASYFIT DUVET COVER Referring to the drawings the duvet cover comprises of a rectangular or square piece of patterned or plain fabric the shape of whatever size bed it is to be used on. This is then folded in half to form a top and a bottom with three open sides. The first Four inches from the top are sewn together to allow a duvet to fit inside more easily. Then from the end of the(closed sewn end) velcro (hooks) are stitched down the open sides and across the bottom of the lower part of the material. Also from four inches from the top on the upper part of the material (dosed end) the other part of the velcro
(material) is stitched down both sides and across the bottom. The fastenings are then hidden by having a strip of material about 2ins wide (could be stiffened) stitched on the upper part of the duvet cover to hang down acting as a valance.
The method of using this type of duvet cover is to lay the duvet cover on top of a bed and by lifting up the top part of the cover opening it up so that a duvet can then be placed upon it. The top half is then pulled back down over the duvet to form an envelope. This is then fastened together using the velcro fasteners along the sides and across the bottom.

Claims (4)

  1. EASYFIT DUVET COVER
    CLAIMS 1. A duvet cover comprising of a piece of material which is over twice the length of a bed or duvet, and of a width to be able to cover the same size of bed or duvet.
    This is folded over lengthways to form an envelope of material open on three sides.
  2. 2. A means of fastening down the edges of the three open sides of the duvet cover to form a closed envelope of claim 1.
  3. 3. A means of covering the three closed edges of the duvet cover in claim 1 and 2 to give it a more pleasing appearance.
  4. 4. A duvet cover substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawings.
