The sheet (31/40) comprises a flat body having peripheral tabs (51/53) at positions corresponding to that of the openings (24) for the respective press studs (50) to engage through such that the sheet (31/40) is held in position relative to the cover (20). Two such sheets (31/40) may be used, with the first sheet (31) inside the cover (20) for warmth keeping and the second sheet (40) outside the cover (20) to keep the cover (20) clean.

Description

SLEEPING ACCESSORY The present invention relates to sleeping accessory comprising a cover and a sheet for sleepers to keep warmth.
According to the invention, there is provided sleeping accessory for warmth keeping, comprising a cover and a sheet for use in combination, wherein the cover comprises a hollow flat body having a plurality of peripheral openings formed around the body and fastening means provided adjacent the openings, and the sheet comprises a flat body having peripheral parts at positions corresponding to that of the openings for the respective fastening means to engage through such that the sheet is held in position relative to the cover.
Preferably, the fastening means are operable to restrict the respective openings.
More preferably, each fastening means has two interengageable parts provided on opposite sides, respectively, of the associated opening.
Even more preferably, each fastening means is in the form of a press stud.
In a preferred embodiment, each peripheral partpof the body'; of the sheet has a hole for the respective fastening means to engage through.
More preferably, each peripheral part is in the form of a tab having a rear end connected to the body of the sheet and a front end at which the hole is formed.
Even more preferably, each tab is of fabric material and the edge of the associated hole is reinforced by stitching.
In a preferred embodiment, the body of the cover has a substantially rectangular shape and has a said peripheral opening and fastening means adjacent each corner.
More preferably, the body of the cover includes three said peripheral openings and fastening means at substantially the middle positions of the two longer sides and one shorter side.
In a first example, the sheet is adapted to be used inside the cover for warmth keeping.
In a second example, the sheet is adapted to be used outside the cover, on the underside thereof, for keeping the cover clean.
It is preferred that the sleeping accessory includes an additional said sheet, the two sheets being for used inside and outside the cover, respectively.
The invention will now be more particularly described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a top perspective view of an embodiment of sleeping accessory in the form of a quilt in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 is a bottom perspective view of the quilt of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a top perspective view of a corner of the quilt of Figure 1, showing its formation by a cover, two inner sheets and an outer sheet; Figure 4 is a top perspective view corresponding to Figure 3, showing the cover, the inner sheets and the outer sheet in appropriate relative positions for assembly; Figure 5 is a top perspective view corresponding to Figure 4, showing the cover, the inner sheets and the outer sheet assembled together; and Figure 6 is a cross-sectional side view of the assembled quilt corner of Figure 5.
Referring to the drawings, there is shown sleeping accessory in the form of a quilt 10 embodying the invention, which quilt 10 is formed by a quilt cover 20, a quilt body 30 used inside the cover 20, and a cover sheet 40 used outside the cover 20. The quilt cover 20 has a hollow flat body which is formed by a top panel 21 and a bottom panel 22 stitched together along respective inturned or added-on hems 21' and 22' (Figure 6). The top panel 21 is cross-stitched with an internal layer of artificial wool such that the cover 20 itself may be used alone as a quilt, blanket or sheet for warmth keeping in a not-too-cold weather. A frill 25 is stitched around the quilt cover 20 for decoration. The quilt body 30 consists of two sheets or blankets 31 made of artificial wool. One or both of the blankets 31 may be used inside the quilt cover 20 for additional warmth keeping. The cover sheet 40 is used to protect by covering the underside of the quilt cover 20, for keeping it clean, and is detachable for washing.
The quilt cover 20 is generally rectangular and has an open shorter side 23 to permit insertion of the quilt body 30.
Seven peripheral openings 24 are formed adjacent/at the four corners and at the middle positions of the other three sides of the quilt cover 20. The openings 24 are formed by not stitching together along the hems 21' and 22 of the two panels 21 and 22 of the quilt cover 20 at appropriate positions. A plastics two-part press stud 50 is fitted on the respective hems 21' and 22' on opposite sides of each opening 24 for inter-engagement to, inter alia, close or restrict the opening 24.
Each blanket 31 of the quilt body 30 has a generally rectangular shape and is provided with seven peripheral tabs 51 adjacent/at the four corners and at the middle positions of the two longer and one shorter sides. The tabs 51 are made of fabric material and protrude slightly from the edge of the associated blanket 31. Each tab 51 is stitched at its rear end to the blanket edge and has, at its front end, a hole 52 having an edge which is reinforced by means of packed stitching.
In use, the blankets 31 are inserted into the quilt cover 20 (Figure 3) and positioned such that their tabs 51 are aligned with the respective openings 24 of the quilt cover 20 (Figure 4). with the tabs 51 extending from inside into the corresponding openings 24, each opening 24 is closed or restricted to have its press stud 50 inter-engaging through the holes 52 of the aligned tabs 51 (Figure 6). The blankets 31 are thus maintained by the press studs 50 in position within and relative to the quilt cover 20.
The cover sheet 40 is also generally rectangular and is provided with seven peripheral tabs 53 adjacent/at the four corners and at the middle positions of the two longer and one shorter sides. The tabs 53 are made of fabric material and protrude inwards from the edge of the cover sheet 40.
Like the tabs 51 described above, each tab 53 is stitched in place and has a reinforced end hole 54.
In use, the cover sheet 40 is laid over the underside of the quilt cover 20 (Figure 3) and positioned such that its tabs 53 are aligned with the respective openings 24 of the quilt cover 20 (Figure 4). The tabs 53 are then tucked, from outside, into the respective openings 24 for securing by the associated press studs 50 upon closing of the openings 24. As described above in relation to the quilt body 30, each opening 24 is closed such that its press stud 50 engages through the hole 54 of the aligned tab 53 (Figure 6). The cover sheet 40 is thus maintained by the press studs 50 in position under and relative to the quilt cover 20. In a slightly different form, the cover sheet 40 may not only cover the bottom panel 22 of the quilt cover 20 but also extend round to cover the top panel 21 adjacent the end of the quilt cover 20 nearest to the sleeper's head and neck.
It is to be appreciated that the blankets 31 and the cover sheet 40 may or may not be used at the same time in combination with the quilt cover 20. When both of them are used as shown in the drawings, the press stud 50 at each opening 24 of the quilt cover 20 secures simultaneously through the holes 52 and 54 of the aligned tabs 51 and 53 of the blankets 21 and the cover sheet 40.
As the press studs 50 are fitted on the hems 21 and 22 of the quilt cover panels 21 and 22, they are hidden away from sight behind the outermost edges of the panels 21 and 22.
It is envisaged that the tabs 51/53 with holes 52/54 may be replaced by loops formed by suitable tapes, strips or strings stitched to the edge of the blankets 31 or cover sheet 40. Also, the press studs 50 may be replaced by any other suitable fastening means, such as ties, clips or rings.
The invention has been given by way of example only, and various other modifications of and/or alterations to the described embodiment may be made by persons skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention as specified in the appended claims.
