Abstract

977,938. Golf bags; golf club covers. R. S. SCHEURER. June 24, 1963 [July 30, 1962], No. 24958/63. Heading A6D. A golf bag 10 and golf club cover 35 are each provided with pieces of pile fabric 30 and 44 respectively, one piece having a looped pile and the other a hooked pile, whereby the loops and hooks cooperate to releasably secure the cover to the bag when the former is not in place on a golf club. In modifications, the fabric 30 on the bag 10 is only situated on that side of the bag to which the strap 20 is fixed, and is in the form of a strip parallel and adjacent to the upper edge of the bag, and/or a strip lying longitudinally of the bag and located under the strap. In these latter instances, provision is preferably made for ensuring that the fabric does not contact the ground when the bag is lying thereon, either by flattening part of the reinforcing band surrounding the mouth of the bag, or by providing the pocket 75 with stiffened sides, both of these arrangements preventing the bag from rolling.
