Abstract
1302472 Photo-sensitive materials SOC TECHNIQUE D'APPLICATIONS CHIMIQUES ET PHYSIQUES and J STAMBOULIAN 19 April 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 26020/71 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive composition comprises a homogeneous mixture of zein and a diazonium salt or condensate thereof with formaldehyde. The composition may be coated on a support which may be bimetallic e.g. chromium/copper or chromium or copper/aluminium. The material may be imagewise exposed and developed with water preferably containing urea and an acid such as phosphoric or lactic acid to produce a printing plate. Alternatively the top metal of the support may be etched and optionally the resist removed to produce a printing plate. In another embodiment, the resist is coated with a hydrophobic varnish, e.g. polyvinyl acetate or a cellulose derivative and the resist removed leaving the varnish adhered to the metal and producing a positive printing plate.
