Abstract

1,125,160. Photo-sensitive materials. AZOPLATE CORP. Dec.31, 1965 [Jan.2, 1965], No. 55444/65. Heading G2C. A light-sensitive material comprises an aluminium support coated with an intermediate layer of a phosphonic acid or a derivative thereof and then with a layer containing a diphenylamine-4-diazonium salt/formaldehyde condensate and an aminoformaldehyde resin. Up to 50% of the resin may be replaced by another resin such as polyvinyl acetal or an alkyd resin (which is not oil modified) or an epoxide resin (see Specifications 1,063, 558 and 1, 063, 559). In the examples, an aluminium support is immersed in ammonia to produce a Bohmit layer treated with polyvinylphosphoric acid (and optionally vinylphosphoric acid) and then coated with the diazo formaldehyde condensate and the urea- or melamine/formaldehyde resin and optionally 10% by weight of total resin of polyvinyl acetal or an unmodified alkyd resin. The material is imagewise exposed and developed in a gum arabic/magnesium nitrate solution to produce a printing plate.
