Abstract

130,229. Hendry, A., and Hendry, M. A. Oct. 22, 1918. Belts are made up of leather &c. strips arranged. side by side. The surfaces of the strips or plies a near each edge of the belt are made concave so that upon stitching or securing the strips together, the outer strips assume a channel formation, as shown in Fig. 2, whereby the stitching is preserved from contact with the belt fork during running. The grooves b in the surfaces may be of V-shape or curved and on one or both sides of a strip or of two strips stitched together. The grooves may not be continuous, in which case the strips are assembled with the grooves in staggered relationship.
