Abstract
1301655 Endless conveyers J M BOYDELL 6 May 1970 [6 Feb 1969] 6397/69 Heading B8A An endless conveyer comprises a series of pivotally connected links each having a plurality of U-shaped elements 10 with their bight portions 12 in alignment across the belt and the free ends of their limbs 11 in overlapping relationship with the elements of adjacent links, through which overlapping portions pass transverse rods 14. The limbs of each element 10 are stepped at 13 to facilitate such overlapping and the elements of each link may be arranged in parallel rows with spacers 15 therebetween or alternatively adjacent links may have their components staggered, Fig. 2A (not shown). An alternative to the step 13 is to incline the links outwardly from the bight portion 12. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the limbs (21), (22) progressively decrease in length across the conveyer to enable the belt to pass around a curve of fixed radius. Furthermore, the apertures in each element to receive the rods 14 may be elongated to allow the conveyer to negociate curves. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), slats (25) are resiliently secured to the conveyer by springs (31). The slats having a curved forward edge (27) to fit beneath the trailing edge 26 of an adjacent slat, the trailing edge may be flat, V-shaped in cross-section or perforated. The conveyer may be supported by rollers 16 mounted at the ends and intermediate thereof of the rods 14 and running on tracks (not shown). Wheels (40), Fig. 6 (not shown), mounted on depending brackets (42) co-operate with tracks (43) to allow the conveyer to follow a reverse curve.
