Abstract

1301594 Spool transfer means MURATA KIKAI KK and DAIWA BOSEKI KK 6 Oct 1970 [11 Oct 1969 (4)] 47554/70 Heading D1F An automatic spool feeding apparatus for an automatic winder comprises a spool supply means F having a plurality of poles 26 disposed at fixed intervals, each pole 26 being adapted to receive thereon the core tube of a spool 28, a series of spool holders P movable along an endless path through a spool feed position J, spool transfer means for transferring spools from the poles to vacant spool holders, and spool transfer means at the spool feed position J for sequentially removing spools from the spool holders and locating them on the pegs N of the automatic winder K. The operations of reception, delivery and transfer are performed by using the inner surfaces of the core tubes of the spools. In operation, the spool supply means comprises a wheeled carriage 21 which is positioned over a pit 1 below the spool holders P, and is held in position by locating jacks 13. A motor 30 is caused to operate to move lifts 38, 39 upwards to support lifting frame 27 which raises the spools 28 on the poles 26 so that the top spools are placed on the holders P of the spool holding line H. Microswitches are actuated to lower the lifts 38, 39 to await the next lifting operation. The holders P comprise a peg which is inserted into the core tube of the spool and is provided with means to grip the inner surface of the tube. When a fresh spool is required at the winding units L of the automatic winder K, the winding unit L is stopped opposite the spool feed position J and detecting means M initiates either knotting of broken ends or supply of fresh spool. In the case of fresh supply the clutch 57 is engaged to rotate cam shaft 54. Rotation of cam 65 causes slide shaft 110 to be moved towards peg N until a projection on N fits the end of the shaft. Rotation of cam 69 then causes slide shaft 110 to be turned through half a revolution to displace peg N into a downwardly directed position which causes the empty core tube to fall off the peg N. Further rotation of the cam 69 rotates the slide shaft through 90‹ so that the peg N assumes a horizontal position. Simultaneously with the sliding movement of the shaft 110, cam 66 causes a peg R at the feed position to be turned to a position in alignment with the peg N. Rotation of cam 67 then causes a lever to push a fresh spool from the peg R at the feed position onto the peg N. The slide shaft 110 is then returned to its original position, and at the same time the peg R in the feed position returns to its original position. A spring associated with the peg N returns this peg to its original upright position with the fresh spool thereon. At this stage the shaft 54 has completed one revolution. The winding unit L is then ready to be circulated. When the peg in the feed position J returns to its original position, cam 64 actuates a lever to release a spool 28 from the holder P to fall onto the peg R at the feed position. The cam 68 then turns a suction pipe 133 to draw out the yarn end on the spool on the peg R. The said lever and the suction pipe are then returned to their original positions. Immediately on completion of the spool feed to the peg N, a microswitch energises a clutch 56 to rotate the knotter cam shaft 55. Knotting is then effected between the cheese being wound on the winding unit and the new spool. When the detecting means M initiates knotting of broken ends, the shaft 55 alone is rotated to effect the knotting. During rotation of the shaft 54 the holding line H is circulated by one position of the holders P. When microswitch 84 senses that the last holder P has moved away from the poles 26 i.e. the state in which the holders P above the poles 26 are empty, the microswitch 84 actuates the lifts 38, 39 for upward movement to thus load spools onto the empty holders P. When the carriage 21 is empty a microswitch may be used to illuminate a lamp and sound a buzzer to warn the operator.
