Abstract

1300997 Sewing machines OPTI-HOLDING AG 10 April 1970 [12 April 1969] 17049/70 Heading D1G Sliding clasp fasteners are sewn into openings of articles, e.g. articles of bed linen, during their manufacture, by forming the sheet material 10 into a tube the edges of which are fed, by the usual feeding mechanism, with the fastener into a multiple needle sewing machine 1, the fastener being sewn to the fabric edges in a single passage of the work through the sewing machine. As shown, the sheet 10 is drawn, from a roller 5, past a guiding device 8 which provides the tubular shape. Guide devices 9 on the flat-bed machine 1 engage the sheet edges to provide single or multiple folds (11, Figs. 2 and 3 not shown) the devices 9 also serving for the introduction of the fastener 7 drawn off from roll 6. If the fastener is supplied as a continuous strip a cutting device (not described) is provided, otherwise separate lengths of fastener may be wound on the roll 6. In another embodiment (Fig. 5 not shown) a feed-off-the-arm machine is employed and the work is fed from below the machine.
