Abstract

1300750 Vehicle doors CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM Ltd 20 May 1970 [11 July 1969] 35086/69 Headings B7B and B7J A drain channel 13, formed along the top edge of a vehicle access opening, is concealed by the top edge of an upwardly opening door 12 hinged about an axis 14 between the door and channel, opening of the door being effected or assisted by a U-spring 24. Hinge members 19 and 16, fixed to the door and channel respectively, pivotally connect the door and vehicle body, and the spring 24 is carried by a member 18 which reinforces the channel. One limb of the spring is received in notches 23 in a link 22 pivotally connected to a member 20 secured to the door, the spring being in tension when the door is closed. The door 12 may be the rear door of an estate car.
