Abstract

1300613 Lock stitch sewing machines ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 5 Jan 1970 [3 Jan 1969] 420/70 Headings DIG and D1W The invention relates to leashing a hank, Fig. 7, by a lock stitch sewing machine, the threads of the machine forming a knot comprising a series of half hitches at each end of the leashing and a series of lock stitches between the knots. Frames, grouped machines. The machine comprises a generally triangular frame 10 from the apices of which extend three upper arms 20 and three lower arms 21, only one of each being shown in Fig. 2, a single driving shaft 17 being provided. Feeding by special devices, to which work is fixed. The hank is arranged on a swift, not shown, the shaft of which is positioned in notches 112, 113 in a frame 19 slidable along a slot 114 parallel to the arms 20, 21. The frame is stated to be advanced in steps, as the machines operates, by a rod 126 one end of which embraces an eccentric 125 on a drive shaft 122, the other end having a pin 127 engaging a rack 115. Lock stitching other than simple, governing threads, thread end holder. Stitching begins before the hank reaches the needle, the ends of upper and lower threads being trapped between rollers 40, 41 before stitching begins. A slide 15 having a tongue 70 engages the lower thread to draw it aside, the needle and looper then forming half hitches (Fig. 4, a-g, not shown). The slide is actuated by a shaft 72 having a gear sector 73 co-operating with an interrupted gear 75. A number of half hitches are formed to provide the first knot, subsequent normal lock stitches dividing the hank and being followed by a further series of half hitches.
