Abstract

1300131 Shearing punching COST EFFECTIVENESS Ltd 26 May 1971 [26 Feb 1970] 9229/70 Heading B3W A self contained press assembly open at both ends 19 and at both sides 20 is mounted on a base 11 for angular movement about a vertical axis so that strip can be presented to an end 19 for mosaic blanking or to a side 20 with the press at any desired angle to the strip feed direction for profile shearing. The press is also supported by skids 12 which are straight or concentric with the vertical axis. Tools are spigotmounted in bolsters 23, 24 supported from a table 22 so that a space 25 is left for extraction of blanks or scrap which fall through. A top plane 21 carries hydraulic actuating cylinders. The whole or part of the weight of the press assembly is supported by hydraulic means 13 while it is being moved angularly manually. For tool changing, tools are withdrawn through one side opening 20 on to a table and fresh tools from another table are inserted through the other side opening. When the press is used for mosaic blanking, a shear may be mounted across the strip entry end.
