Abstract

1299010 Electromagnetic relays INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 17 Dec 1970 [20 Dec 1969] 59928/70 Heading H1N A "flat" electromagnetic relay for mounting on a printed circuit board has a compression spring 140 between the pivoted armature 160 and each pivoted movable contact carrier and arranged so that the axis of the spring crosses the pivotal axis of the contact carrier during movement of the armature in each direction of travel but the said axis does not cross the pivotal axis of the armature. In this way the spring or springs 140 provide snap-action of the changeover contacts but always biases the armature to its unattracted position. The relay has an E-shaped yoke 200 with the coil 210 on the larger central link 203. The bent U-shaped armature has notches 164, 165 in the ends of its links 162, 163 and rocks on pivot pins 204, 205 on the outer yoke limbs 201, 202. The bight 161 of the U-shaped armature co-operates with the end 207 of the limb 203 and carries insulating ports 180 engaging the ends of the compression springs 140. Fig. 1 shows a relay with five sets of housing openings 111 for mounting fixed contact members 91, 101, 70, 71 which may have sawtoothed edges engaged in sides of the openings 111. Contact buttons 60, 70 (63, 73, 133, 134) may be provided on the contact members.
