Abstract

129,868. Farquharson, W. T. Sept. 18, 1918. Coating fabrics in long lengths.-In apparatus for coating paper &c. with water-proofing and other materials, the paper is drawn over the gauzecovered and perforated side of a receptacle a, preferably tubular, containing the coating material. A slot g is formed in the side' of the receptacle, and this is partially covered by a perforated plate h secured by serews j leaving an upper opening k through which surplus liquid is returned to the receptacle from a roller l serving as a scraper. The plate h is covered by a length of gauze &c. n secured by a screw o and a tightening- device q. Spring bands u may be placed round the receptacle to prevent the margins or other portions of the paper from being coated. The liquid, suitably heated, is supplied from a tank, and steam pipes e may be provided to maintain its temperature in the receptacle a.
