Abstract

1298666 Angular bending M W LUSTY 25 Feb 1970 [13 Jan 1969] 2029/69 Heading B3E A pipe bender for forming U-shaped pipe bends comprises a pair of mandrels 20, 21 each formed with an arcuate peripheral groove extending for a quadrant of a circle, the mandrels being relatively movable with respect to one another, to and from a pipe bending position, and a pair of forming rollers 24, 25 each movable around the periphery of the grooved portion of said mandrels when in the pipe bending position. The rollers are mounted on arcuate quadrant shaped supports 32 and 31 rotatable about the same axes 28, 29 as the mandrels; alternatively they may rotate about different axes. The pipe 27 to be bent is guided between the rollers by two adjustable support members 30. Independent operation of the mandrels and their supports 31, 32 carrying the rollers 24, 25 is effected by pneumatic cylinders 37, 38 controlled manually by valves 39, 40. Instead of being rotatable the mandrels may be movable laterally towards each other.
