Abstract
1401930 Binding tubes V N SHUBIN V S SILANTIEV A S KHLYNTSEY and A P BARSOVA 21 Nov 1973 [30 Nov 1972] 54069/73 Heading B3E A tube bending head comprises a pair of coaxial discs 3 (one shown) fixed on either side of an elongated member 1 having a passage 5 for the tube 6 to be bent, two bending rolls 7, 8 mounted between the discs on opposite sides of of the passage, and a third bending roll 9 mounted on a rotatable member 17 so as to be movable towards and away from the axis 1a of the passage, the rotatable member comprising a pair of cheeks (one shown) between which roll 9 is mounted, each cheek having a circular aperture by which it is mounted on a respective disc, preferably so that the outer surfaces of cheek and disc are flush. In the arrangement shown, a further roll 10 opposes roll 7, and rolls 8 and 10 are supported on a frame 14 mounted on the discs by shaft 15. The tube is driven by a feed in the body 2 of the machine, and the position of roll 9, and hence the bend curvature is controlled by links 21, 22, so that a tube may contain bends of various curvatures and straight portions. The tube may be rotated to alter the plane of bending, and this rotation may be coupled to the tube feed so that a helix is produced.
