Abstract

129,862. Lee, E. Sept. 12, 1918. Lasting.-A machine for lasting clog uppers is characterized by a movable last operated to press the upper firmly against a leather cover held in a frame. A last c<2> is removably attached by a pin c<1> to a screw b<1> operated by a wheel b<2> to give vertical adjustment. The last is heated by a gas jet m. A clog upper d<12> is held between the last and a leather cover d<2>. The cover is carried by a frame d pivoted at d<1> to adjustable sliding links d<4> and held in place by pivoted levers e engaging side slots d<8> in the frame. The links d<4> are adjustable horizontally by a collar d<3> attached to a screw (not shown) and wheel d'. The levers care pivoted at e<2> and counterweighted at e<3> so as to open and release the frame d, but are drawn together by a spring-chain device g<4> attached to a handle g<3> which when moved to the right closes the levers e into slots d<8>. The upper is pressed into place bv a boshing tool, Fig. 8, which consists of a roller o carried by a spindle o' attached to handles o<2>.
