To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM WVILKIE, of 3a Garthland Drive, Dennistoun, Glasgow, Scotland, have invented a certain new and useful Appliance for Pressing the Collars of Articles of lVearingApparel, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates toan appliance for pressing and shrinking wearing apparel. There is a known type of machine in which a fixed ironing bed (which may be conical) is mounted on a frame and cooperates with a vertically or laterally-moving ironing plate (also conical) operated by a treadle mounted on the stand in order to hot-press articles placed between them.

It is accordingly the principal object of my invention to provide means in the type of machine just mentioned for conveniently pressing the collar of a garment.

Further objects of my invention will appear from the detailed description hereinbelow and from the appended claims.

In order that my invention may be properly understood and readily carried into effect, I have hereunto appended one sheet of drawings of which Figure l is a front View of the machine embodying my invention.

Referring to the drawings, A is the framework. B is the treadle mounted in said framework and C is the table. D is the stationary presser plate bolted thereto by bracket E. F is an overhead bracket fitted thereto by bolts. G is the long curved lever pivoted within the jaws .F of the bracket. The long lever extends from the top of the machine to the bottom at or near which it is attached to the treadle bar B he upper surface of treadle-bar B is formed with ratchet teeth B Engaging with said teeth B is a pivoted rod or pawl depending from the frame of the machine at the front thereof. Claims:

1. In appliances for pressing and shrink ing wearing apparel, a conical stationary presser plate mounted on the table of the machine, around which the article under treatment is placed, a curved movable plate for shaping and pressing the collar of said article under treatment, and a conical movtially as and for the purposes hereinbefore described and illustrated on the accompanying sheet of drawings.

In appliances for pressing and shrinking Wearing apparel, a framework of taper formation, a treadle inserted in said'framework, a table surmounting said framework, a stationary presser plate mounted on said table, an overhead bracket bolted to said table, a long curved lever mounted at its upper end in said bracket, and connected at its lower end with the treadle bar, a depend ing bar pivoted to the upper part of said curved lever, a conical movable heated plate movable above and engaging with the sta pressing, operating substantionary presser plate, means by Which said movable presser plate is raised and lowered consisting of a forked leverpivoted to the bracket bolted to table aforesaid and controlled by a depending Weight, and a spring fitted beneath the table of the machine and attached to the treadle bar which is designed to raise the ram or barfrom engagement With the stationary presser plate, substantially as and for the purposes hereinbefore 10 described and illustrated on the accompanying sheet of drawings.
