Abstract

1298251 Lampholders WIPAC DEVELOPMENT Ltd 8 July 1971 [8 July 1970] 33219/70 Heading H2E A switched lampholder assembly comprises a contact 24 mounted at the end of a currentsupplying conductor 19, means for biasing together the contact and a terminal 21 of the lamp 10, and an insulating slide 18 movable between a first position in which the contact and terminal engage each other and a second position in which the terminal engages the slide instead of the contact. The slide 18 is retained with limited movement within a metal housing 17 to which is screwed a metal lampholder 16. The holder 16 houses a spring 23 which bears against the other terminal 20 of a festoon lamp to bias the terminal 21 against the slide and the contact 24 which is secured in an insulating bush 26. The central region of the slide is formed with an aperture 32 and a depression 33, separated from each other by a lip 34. In the first position of the slide the terminal 21 aligns with the aperture 32 to complete the circuit, while in the second position the terminal seats in the depression. In another embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the contact is mounted within the aperture in the slide and is carried by the slide into and out of contact with the lamp terminal as the slide is moved from one position to the other. The assemblies are mounted on a flexible column 11.
