Abstract

1298232 Ship's ventilators A A GRAHAM 21 Dec 1970 [20 Sept 1969] 46449/69 Headings F4J and F4V A ship's ventilator comprises a tubular coaming 10, a cowl 11 which is pivotally mounted on a ring 13 which is itself rotatably mounted on the coaming 10, toggles 12 for locking the cowl in its closed position covering the coaming 10 and means for retaining the cowl in any one of its open positions. The toggles 12 are supported directly by the coaming 10, as shown, or on an annular base for the coaming. The cowl is retained in its open positions by tightening wing nuts on the pivotal hinges and by adjusting another toggle which is pivotally mounted on the ring 13. Alternatively, the cowl includes arcuate members which are apertured, the ring 13 is apertured, and pins are engageable in the aligned apertures. The cowl 10 is provided with a rubber sealing ring which engages the edge of the coaming in the closed position.
