1297112 Hygrometers NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 7 Jan 1970 [7 Oct 1968] 47472/68 Heading G1N A hygrometer comprises a pair of electrodes in contact with a porous body of hydrophobic plastics insulating material, the electrical resistance between the electrodes varying with humidity. Suitable plastics materials are polytetrafluorethylene and polytetrafluorochloroethylene. As shown in Fig. 1, a hygrometer comprises a stainless steel rod 1, a porous layer 2 of sintered P. T. F. E., an epoxy resin sleeve 4, a porous gold film electrode 5 and a wire helix 6 cemented to the gold film by a conductive cement 7. Circuits for measuring the resistance between the electrodes incorporating logarithmic amplifiers (26,32) are described with reference to Figs.2 and 3 (not shown).
