Abstract

Probes of variable permeability (electrical) for measuring the resistivity of liquids between two parallel electrodes have electrode tips enclosed in a block of insulating material. Isolation of the electrode tips eliminates end effects and consequent nonlinearity of response with respect to variations in the length of the electrodes in contact with the liquid. The linear signal thus obtained simplifies dependant process control adjustments. The circuit characteristics do not necessarily require an integral amplifier to provide control signals.
