Abstract

835,817. Electrical measuring systems. VICTORY ENGINEERING CORPORATION. Sept. 30, 1957, No. 30506/57. Class 40 (1). In a clinical thermometer comprising a discshaped thermally sensitive resistor 15, connected to a resistance measuring device 21, the resistor- 15 is soldered inside a conductive cap 16, preferably of silver, which is fitted over one end of a rod 10 of insulating material, e.g. hard rubber or plastic, so as to provide a thermally insulating air-filled chamber 13, and the resistor 15 is connected to a lead-out conductor 17 in the rod 10 by a very fine wire 17a, the other. connection to the resistor being made through the cap 16 and a second lead-out conductor 18. The resistance measuring device 21 is of the Wheatstone bridge type and comprises a D.C. microammeter or millivoltmeter, preferably of the centre-zero type, which may be calibrated in degrees.
