Abstract
1296963 Injection - blow moulding S FISCHER 20 Jan 1970 [31 Jan 1969] 2656/70 Heading B5A In an injection-blow moulding process, that part of the injected parison at which injection was effected is deformed before the blowmoulding step. As shown in Fig. 1, the apparatus comprises an injection cone 12, a blow-mould 13 and a plunger 14. Parison 11 is injectionmoulded on core 12 and transferred on it to blow mould 13. Plunger 14 is released to press on and deform the bottom of parison 11 under pressure of spring 15. The plunger 14 which has ducts for coolant supplied and removed through ports 142, 141, acts simultaneously to cool the parison bottom and centre it during the expansion. Air is supplied through duct 122 and the radial passages on retraction of outer core sleeve 121. When the parison is expanded to contact the mould walls, the air pressure is sufficient to lift plunger 14 against spring 15 to its position in the mould wall where it is then held by piston 17 of control cylinder 16 and guide sleeve 171 attached thereto by means of pressure medium supplied through conduit 161, which raises piston 17 so that sleeve 171 abuts head 143.
