Abstract

1357956 Injection moulding and blowmoulding machines; hydraulic presses STUBBE MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 18 Aug 1971 [19 Aug 1970] 38804/71 Headings B5A and B5F The invention relates to an injection moulding or blow-moulding machine employing two or more cylinders 1, 2, 3 having different diameters, and piston rods 4, 5, 6 on one side which carry out synchronous strokes, wherein in each case the circular piston face 14 of a smaller cylinder 2 has the same area as and is connected to the annular piston face 13 of the next larger cylinder, and the circular piston face 12 of the largest cylinder 1 and the annular piston face 17 of the smallest cylinder 3 are alternatively connectibie to pressure medium supply and return conduits 24, 26. According to the invention the diameters of each larger cylinder, the next smaller cylinder and the piston rod of the larger cylinder represent a set of Pythagorean numbers or a whole number multiple thereof. The arrangement provides uniform movement of the piston rods and the invention enables the pistons, cylinders &c. to be selected from standard sized components. The invention can be used for mould closing (Fig. 5, not shown) or for operating ejector rods (Figs. 3, 4, not shown). In Fig. 6 (not shown) the two halves (73, 74) of a blow mould arc synchronized so as to meet one another exactly in line with the blowing head (72). The invention may be applied to only two or even four or more hydraulic cylinders. Compensation for leakage from the hydraulic system can be provided by opening shut-off valves 27, 28. This can be effected automatically at every piston stroke or after any desired number of strokes by means of the circuit shown in Fig. 2 (not shown).
