Abstract

1296900 Airfield runway lamps LAUR KNUDSEN NORDISK ELEKTRICITETS SELSKAB AS 10 Dec 1970 [10 Dec 1969] 58802/70 Heading F4R [Also in Division E2] The cover 2 of an airfield runway lamp is releasably secured to the bowl-like housing 1 by a plurality of screws 3, each of which passes through a threaded hole in a respective clamping member 5. When the cover is introduced into the housing the clamping member is in the position shown in full lines in Fig. 2, but clockwise rotation of the screw causes the member to rotate through a right angle to the dotted-line position in which one end abuts a stop face 9 on the cover and the other end extends beneath a circumferential flange 7 in the housing. Further rotation of the screw causes the member to come into clamping engagement with the flange and with an abutment surface 11 on the cover. When the screw is turned anti-clockwise the clamping pressure is released and the member then rotates back to the full line position in which it abuts a stop face 10. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown), the clamping member (12) is in the form of a downwardly open channel bar and the screw (3) passes through a smooth hole in the base of the channel and engages a nut (15) held captive between the walls of the channel. The upper surface of the nut and the abutting surface of the channel are spherical to enable the screw to adopt a slightly inclined position if required. The head of the screw and the abutting surface of the cover may also be spherical for the same reason.
