Abstract

A blind side nut fastening device comprises a plastics cage 10 having a cylindrical collar 13 with a flange 23, a single elongate guide member 12 and a nut 15 holding part 11, and an elongate nut 15, prevented from rotation by engaging the guide member and which is releasably held on the nut holding part with its threaded opening aligned with the axis of the collar. As described the nut has a V-shaped groove 17 to engage guide 12 and a V-shaped projection 18 to engage pegs 14 on the nut holding part 11. The collar has ribs (22, Fig. 3, not shown) to hinder rotation of the collar as the nut is screwed up and transverse passageways (21) to weaken the collar so that it may deform when the nut is tightened up to help the flange to seal the apertures in the members being joined. A cap 25 for the screw head, to engage under a lip on the flange, may be provided.
