Abstract

631,969. Locking screws and nuts. WALLER, A. B. Jan. 16, 1947, No. 1517. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts are locked by a washer of soft material, such as brass, placed beneath the nut and having a raised edge 1 divided into a number of tongues. On screwing up, the tongues are forced to flow into the thread clearance as indicated at 4. The washer may have external tongues that are upturned against the faces of the nut. Fig. 5 shows a form of washer suitable for use with countersunk screws or nuts having a coned seating face.
