Abstract

551,534. Self-locking nuts. DUNDAS, Ltd., R. K., KING, R. D., and WOOD, N. F. Aug. 29, 1941, Nos. 11049/41 and 6709/42. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts are rendered selflocking by saw-cuts 1, Fig. 1, the wings 3 being then depressed towards the body of the nut to close the cuts completely. The slots may be made parallel to the thread angle and additionally or alternatively may slope towards or away from the bottom of the nut. More than one series of cuts may be made. Three saw-cuts 1d, Fig. 14 may be employed instead of two and where there are more than one set of cuts the cuts may vary in inclination. The cuts start from corners of the nuts.
