Abstract
1296304 Polyesters CELANESE CORP 19 April 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 20670/71 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions C2 and D1] In Examples 4, 5 and 6 dimethyl terephthalate and ethylene glycol are reacted together until the ester interchange is essentially complete, this being followed by the addition of a mixture of 3-(4-sodiosulphophenoxy)-1,2-propane diol in adipic acid-ethylene glycol mixture (Examples 4 and 5) or by the addition of 3-(4- lithiosulphophenoxy) - 1,2 - propanediol in adipic acid-ethylene glycol mixture (Example 6) the resultant mixtures then being polymerized in presence of trimethyl phosphite and titanium dioxide at a maximum temperature of 280‹ C. The products are polyesters having pendant groups -O-Pn-SO 3 Na or -O-Pn-SO 3 Li.
