Abstract

1295744 Marking composition for hot metal ASAI YUSHI-KOGYO KK 16 Sept 1970 [18 Sept 1969] 44147/70 Heading C4A A marking material for a hot steel surface comprises an aqueous dispersion of at least one hydroxide and/or salt of Al, Mg, Co, Cr, Mn or Zr; potassium silicate and/or sodium feldspar; a refractory pigment; and ground Co, Zr, and/or Sn frit. The salt may be a carbonate, and the refractory pigment titanium dioxide and/or cobalt oxide. A clay dispersant may be included. In Example I, an aqueous dispersion comprising Al(OH) 3 , K 2 SiO 3 , sodium feldspar, Co, Sb and Zr frits, TiO 2 , and cobalt oxide is used. In Examples II-V the cobalt oxide is omitted, clay is added, and the frits vary. The composition may be sprayed on to steel at 700- 1200‹C.
