Abstract

1294685 Link mats THOMAS WHITTLE & SONS Ltd 26 May 1970 [23 May 1969] 26327/69 Heading A4S In a link mat injection moulded plastics links 10, consisting of a web 11 with integral, spaced protrusions 12, 13 are arranged in spaced staggered rows 21, 22, 23, and connected together by plastics coated stranded metal wires 27, 28, 29 which pass through locating apertures 14, 15 at the ends of the links and are soldered to nipples 32 in apertures in stiffening members 30, 31. The locating apertures in the links and in cylindrical spacing washers 26 have conical or bell-shaped counter-sinks 18, 19 to aid threading through of the wires, e.g. when the mat is produced in a jig in which the links and washers are assembled at the required relative spacing. In modifications the links are of rubber, the wires are replaced by rods, or the protrusions are shaped as cubes, cylinders on truncated cones or are provided on only one surface of each link.
