Abstract
1,237,185. Scrapers. TIRFOR Ltd. 16 April, 1970 [10 June, 1969], No. 18273/70. Heading F2N. A series of washers 2, 3 with central apertures 5, corresponding to the cross-sectional profile of a cable 4, rotate within a casing 1 upon insertion of the cable through the apertures, the washers being prevented from rotating relative to each other but allowed a small degree of play to permit orientation of the washers to facilitate cable insertion. Relative rotation of the washers 2, 3 is prevented by a flexible rod 6 passing through aligned holes 7 in the washers. The washers 2, 3 are of two different materials alternately spaced, e.g. for a steel cable, the washers 2 are of steel and the washers 3 are of plastics; also the washers may be spaced apart by distance pieces to allow foreign matter to escape, this matter passing through corresponding holes in the casing 1.
