Abstract

1294003 Making heat-exchangers RUBERY OWEN & CO Ltd 20 Aug 1971 [22 Aug 1970] 40529/70 Heading B3A [Also in Division F4] Two single hot water radiators formed from sheet metal pressings with mating flutes between top and bottom headers are combined to form a double radiator by outwardly deforming end portions 10 and cutting notches 11 in the bottom headers 5 on one side of each single radiator, the deformed and notched portions being such as to face one another in correspondence so as to be welded together thereby providing a passage for water flow between the radiators and standing them apart for air flow between them. The open ends of the joined bottom headers are closed by a plate 12 carrying a threaded socket 13 for a pipe connection. The upper headers 4 may be similarly interconnected. The single radiators may be constructed from pressings in which one wall has suitable deformations at regular intervals along the bottom header in anticipation that such radiators may be fabricated as doubles; Fig. 3, not shown.
