Abstract
1293302 Printing apparatus POLYGRAPH LEIPZIG KOMBINAT FUR POLYGRAPHISCHE MASCHINEN UND AUSRUSTUNGEN VEB 14 Jan 1971 1990/71 Heading B6C An impression cylinder 1 has a steel body 5, coated with an electrically insulating layer 6 and a semi-conductive layer 7, within which a plurality of elongated electrical conductors 8 extend parallel to the cylinder axis. As they approach the nip between the impression cylinder and the gravure cylinder 3 the conductors 8 are successively energized to assist transfer of ink from gravure cylinder 3 to web 2. A back-up roller 4 presses the impression cylinder 1 against the gravure cylinder 3. A single impression cylinder 1 may have two sets of conductors 8, arranged alternately and extending over different lengths of the cylinder, so that different widths of web can be accommodated.
