Abstract

1293181 Winches A W BISHOP 22 Jan 1970 [23 Jan 1969] 3887/69 Heading B8B A winch mechanism comprises a pair of friction drums 13, 14 for hauling in cable 25 after which it passes to a driven storage drum 11, the drums 13, 14, at least one of which is driven, being inclined relative to each other in adjacent parallel planes whereby the adjacent coils of cable passing around the drums 13, 14 are automatically spaced axially of the drums. The drums 13, 14 which may be supported either from one or both ends, can be either independently driven by motors 20, 21, synchronously driven through an interconnecting chain 22, or one shaft only may be driven whilst the other is freely rotatable. The cable is guided on to the drums 13, 14 by rollers 27 and on to the storage drum 11 by rollers 38.
