Abstract

1,196,041. Twin drum winches. B. & S. HYDRAULICS Ltd. 21 Dec., 1967 [19 Jan., 1967], No. 2841/67. Heading B8B. A winch comprises two winding drums A4, B4 each driven by its own hydraulic motor A, B and a lay shaft 6 on which the two drums are ball bearing mounted in axial alignment. Each drum is bolted at 3 to a rotating part A2, B2 of the associated motor, the static parts A1, B1 of which are secured to a frame C. The shaft 6 is shorter than the axial distance between the rotating parts A2, B2 to facilitate removal of the two drums together with the shaft, from between the said parts once the bolts 3 have been uncoupled. The flange 5 of one drum is recessed to receive the adjacent flange of the other drum.
