Abstract
1291020 Ferrite cores SIEMENS AG 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 21383/71 Heading H1N A switching or storage ring core of lithiummanganese-chromium ferrite has the starting material composition: 79-82 mol. per cent Fe 2 O 3 ; 15-17 mol. per cent Li 2 O 3 ; 1-6 mol. per cent Cr 2 O 3 and MnO together. The cores may be made by making a pressing of the above oxides in the above properties, heating the pressing in an inert atmosphere, e.g. N 2 , in a furnace at 100-200‹ C. below a predetermined sintering temperature, heating the pressing at this temperature, e.g. 980‹ C. in an oxidizing atmosphere, e.g. O 2 , heating the pressing to the predetermined sintering temperature, e.g. 1120‹ C., cooling the pressing to 100-300‹ C. below this sintering temperature annealing the pressing at this temperature, and finally removing the pressing from the furnace in an inert, e.g. N 2 , atmosphere. The powdered oxides may be presintered before pressing. Examples describe the preparation of 0À8 mm. external diameter annular cores from oxide mixtures containing 0À33, 0À66 and 0À99 mol. per cent Cr 2 O 3 .
