Abstract

129,031. Siddeley-Deasy Motor Car Co., Green, F. M., and Heron, S. D. Sept. 28, 1917. Force-feed lubricating. - To avoid leakage and waste in the lubrication of the crankpins of aircraft engines &c. oil is supplied under pressure to one part of the bearing-surface and is removed from another part by suction. A bore' in the crank-shaft a is divided by a partition f into two passages b<1>, c', each of which communicates with a separate passage b or c running through the cranks and crank-pins a'. Holes v, w connect the passages to diametrically opposite parts of the bearing-surfaces. Oil is pumped through one passage and is drawn through the other by suction of a pump, or by a centrifugal device consisting of a revolving radial pipe o formed with a restricted orifice. The feed of oil may be varied by altering the number or size of the ports v, w, or by varying the output of the feed and exhaust pumps.
