Abstract
1289853 Drying machines E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 5 Nov 1969 [6 Nov 1968] 54333/69 Heading F4G A method of temporarily stopping and restarting apparatus for drying moist materials such as acrylonitrile staple fibre, said material being supplied by feed means 13 on to a moving perforated belt 11 and dried by heated gas circulated inside and exhausted from the apparatus by the fans 15 and 17 respectively, comprising sequentially stopping said perforated belt and feed means simultaneously, stopping the circulating fan after the perforated belt has stopped, and stopping said exhaust fan after the passage of air from the circulating fan has substantially stopped, and re-starting the apparatus by sequentially starting said exhaust fan, starting said circulating fan, and starting said feed means and perforated belt as soon as heated air begins passing through said perforated belt. The apparatus may be controlled by cams tripping switches to shut down and start up the various elements in the desired sequence.
