Abstract

1289781 Swimming pools J LINECKER 21 Jan 1970 [21 Jan 1969 and 25 March 1969] 2980/70 Heading A4N A swimming pool has a wall 1 which is supported by generally horizontal support elements 7 secured to a foundation 8 situated externally of the pool. The support elements are connected to the wall by a member 5 co-operating with projections 9 and 15 at one end and to the foundation 8 at the other end by means of a projection 10 which may be supplemented by a further projection 13. Overflow slots 14 allow water to pass from the top of elements 7 to an overflow channel 6. Faces 3 may be provided with cladding 22, e.g. of aluminium, and the space between wall 1 and said faces used as a reservoir when it is desired to lower the pool water level, water being allowed to pass through valves in wall 1 and being returned to the pool by means of a pump. Pipes 23 and 23a associated with the swimming pool may be suspended under elements 7 by means of suspension members 22 and 22a. Between elements 7 intermediate plates 7a Fig. 2 (not shown), may be provided which can be removed to allow access to pipes 23, 23a. The elements 7 may be provided with heating means. Fig. 3 (not shown), shows an alternative method of securing elements 7 to foundation 8 by means of projections (10a, 10b) engaging the outer surfaces of foundation 8. Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) illustrate alternative methods of connecting elements 7 to the pool wall 1 and of providing an overflow channel.
