128,977. Bennis, A. W. Sept. 7, 1917. Valves.-Air or combustible mixture is circulated through a valve and enters and leaves through ports in the guiding-surface which are always open. Fig. 1 shows the application to a beat valve with a hollow stem having a central diaphragm 2 and lateral ports 12, 13 which are always open to passages 8, 9 in the guide 7. Fig. 2 shows a hollow sleeve valve 82 with ports which allow the cooling-fluid entering at 83 to traverse the hollow cylinder walls 87 and piston 85 before escaping at 84.
