Abstract
1289306 Locks WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd 2 Dec 1969 [3 Dec 1968] 57393/68 Heading E2A A vehicle bonnet latch comprises a release member 6 to which is attached a key operated lock assembly 1 which is slidable to release the latch, turning the key between unlocking and looking positions moves a blocking member 4 of the assembly from an inoperative to an operative position which, when the latch is in use, fouls a fixed part of the vehicle body structure and thus prevents sliding release movement of the lock assembly. The lock assembly 1 is mounted to be accessible through an aperture in a radiator grille and is depressed to release the latch by the member 6 pivotally attached to the body 2 of the lock. An inner cylinder 2 is rotated by the key to move the blocking member 4 projecting from one end of the cylinder to a position where it abuts part of the vehicle structure and so prevents inward movement of the body 2 and hence release of the latch. A plastics shield 18 pivotally mounted on the body is spring urged to cover the end of the body and is pivoted to uncover the keyhole for insertion of the key.
