Abstract

1288991 Catch fastenings MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AG 2 Feb 1970 [3 Feb 1969] 4864/70 Addition to 1288649 Heading E2A [Also in Division B8] A vehicle for attaching, lifting or tipping containers as described in the parent Specification is provided with automatically operated catch means to hold the end of a link 5 in different positions in a slot in a beam 9 so that the actuating ram produces the desired movement of the container. The catch 16 comprises a plate having a recess 18 which engages a pin 25, and a stud 27 mounted in a slot 28 of a moving plate 29 which latter by a pin 30 in turn engages a hook 30. A member 19 can cover the recess or be engaged by a catch 21. To pick up a container with the frame limbs 3 positioned on either side the ram engaging the linkage is actuated to raise it, the link 5 sliding in the slot in the beam 9 Fig. 3, until the pin 25 pushes the plate 19 against its spring 23 into engagement with the catch 21 and the pin 25 enters the recess 18, Fig. 7. If the ram actuation is stopped the weight of the container will move the parts to the Fig. 8 position with the weight taken on the pin 25 supported by the beam 9 as the container remains in an elevated transport position. To tip the container from this position the ram is further actuated and as the catch 16 moves further rearwards the member 19 releases the pin 25, Fig. 10, and then the recess 18 and member 19 engage the stud 17 moving it in the slot 28 until it moves the plate 29 to disengage the pin 30 from the hook 32 Fig. 11. The container beam 9 is thus released and the ram tips the container. To lower the container the ram is switched off so that the link 5 sinks until the pin 30 runs over a ramp 39 Fig. 12 and then enters the hook 32 under spring action 31. A short further actuation of the ram will cause the catch 16 to rise over the stud 27 without moving it so that the parts return to the initial positions Fig. 3. To raise the container higher for stacking the stud 27 is placed in a further slot 40, Fig. 14 through a further slot 41 in the plate 29.
