Abstract

1,055,447. Shop fittings. J. J. GRINTZ. Oct. 1, 1963 [Oct. 2, 1962], No. 38542/63. Heading A4T. [Also in Division B8] A grocery bag loader for check out counters comprises an open ended tray with side walls 15 pivoting clockwise and downwards at 17 against a spring damper 20, on a U-support 25 pivoting counterclockwise and upwards at 35b on a block 24 rotatable around the top of an hydraulic jack 50, 51 from a position shown in full lines Fig. 1, whereby a checker C loads goods from a conveyer 11 to the tray 14 and covers the tray with a bag 23, depresses switch 81 to actuate the jack and lift the tray, manually turns the tray to the dotted line position in Fig. 1 and then depresses spring-loaded catch 34 so that the weight of goods tips the tray away from a magnet 45 to allow the bag of goods to fall into a trolley 8. Releasing switch 81 allows the jack to descend, and should goods remains on the loading area 12 beneath the now horizontal tray, the tray and its support 25 tip counterclockwise about pivot 35b to prevent damage to the goods.
