Abstract

1287937 Welding by fusion EUTECTIC CORP 6 Oct 1969 48914/69 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] A flame spray powder which may be used as a filling for a tubular rod or as a coating for a welding electrode contains metal, metalliferous or metalloid particles and a resin and flux mixture adhering to the particles, the flux being selected from calcium or potassium borate, fluoroborates, metal fluorides, boric acids, metal chlorides, metal nitrates, metal carbonates and alkalis. The resins may be thermosetting e.g. silicones, phenolics, epoxies or polyesters or thermoplastics e.g. vinyls, arcylics, polyolefines, fluorinated polyolefines or synthetic rubbers. The particles may be Cu, Ag, Au, Fe, Co, Ni, Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh, In, Zn, Cd, Al, Pb, Sn, Cr or alloys having these metals as their base. The particles may also include oxides, borides. carbides, silicides or nitrides of V, Nb, Ti, Ta, Zr, Hf, Cr, Mo or W.
