Abstract

1287802 Pipe couplings ZAKO-ROHRVERBINDUNGEN GmbH 8 Dec 1969 [6 Dec 1968 23 June 1969] 59878/69 Heading F2G In a pipe connector, a flared pipe end 14 is held between a flanged serrated conical spigot 13 and two axially spaced pressure surfaces 15, 16 in a conical bore of a holding ring 8, the end flange 12 of the spigot abutting an end face of a connector housing 6 and sealed by an elastic ring 10 in an annular groove in the housing end face. The holding ring 8 screws on to the connector housing 6, and the housing screws into a suitable appliance 19, an elastic sealing ring 3 being provided in a groove in the mating housing end face. For high pressure work, the sealing rings 3, 10 are supported by axially resilient rings 20, 21 of P.T.F.E. or spring steel, Figs. 3-5 (not shown). The gap between the end faces of the spigot 13 and housing 6 outside the sealing ring 10 is less than the inside gap to avoid the sealing ring entering the former gap, due to pressure.
