1287575 False twisting; crimping and heating yarns TEIJIN SEIKI CO Ltd 4 Dec 1969 59387/69 Headings DID and D1F A false twist crimping arrangement for synthetic filaments comprises supply package 1, feed rollers 3, first heater 4, false twist spindle 5, broken yarn detector 6, first delivery rollers 7, a twist adjuster 8, a second heater 9, second delivery rollers 10, third delivery rollers 12 and a take up device 14. If a soft wound package is required a further delivery roller 13 is provided to overfeed the filament to the winding device. False twist device. Twist tube 5 is driven by a disc 20' mounted on a shaft 21 which also carries a disc 20 contacted and driven by a disc 19 on the shaft of a motor 17. Disc 19 may be arranged to engage and drive the tube 5 directly. Heating device. The filament is heated by being passed along grooves 29 in tubes 27 running vertically between horizontal upper and lower tubes 23, 24. Lower tube contains a fluid 25 and a heater 26 whereby the fluid is vaporised and the tubes 27 heated by the fluid. A return tube 31 is provided between tubes 23, 24 and is broken along its length in a chamber 30. Vapour condenses in chamber 30 and runs back to tube 24 while the gases which are expelled from liquid 25 tend to remain in chamber 30 and are periodically released to the atmosphere via a valve V. These gases normally cause the filament to be unevenly heated.
