Abstract

1287164 Valves ENFO ENTWICKLUNGSUND FORSCHUNGS-AG 28 April 1970 20288/70 Heading F2V A valve, suitable for use with a piston compressor, comprises a seating 1, a back-up plate 5 spaced from the seating and secured to it by means of a nut and bolt 7, 6, a valving plate 2, and a damping plate 3, the latter two plates being disposed, with a clearance between them, between the seating and plate 5. Each of the plates 2 and 3 comprises arcuate openings 19 extending between radially directed ribs 11 with each of the ribs extending beyond the periphery of the respective plate to so form peripheral and circumferentially spaced projections 13. A plurality of springs 8 and 9 extend between the back-up plate 5 and the valving and damping plates 2 and 3, respectively. In use, initial contact between the valving plate and the damping plate or the seating is effected through the projections 13 on plate 2 engaging projections 13 and plate 3 or the surface of the seating, such arrangement serving to minimise excessive stresses induced in the valving plate consequent to it moving to one of its two operative positions.
